Project Description of BCF¡¯s Teachers¡¯ Professional Development
 
Project Background

Basic education is the most crucial development stage for a person. It is expected to make the middle and the elementary school students and teachers to be in better shape through the supports given to them. For students, school assistance program and scholarship programs are being implemented to the middle, the elementary and the high school students respectively, other programs aiming to build their own capacity are being explored; for teachers, TIP program for English teachers in rural middle and elementary schools and Psychological education program for rural middle and elementary teachers and students are underway.

BCF is looking to work with other agencies and the individuals who are engaging in basic education development to develop more programs targeting to students and teachers and push forward basic education.

Project objectives and implementation plan

The ultimate beneficiaries of BCF's programs are the students. However, we believe teachers play critical roles in their development. Therefore, we hope to provide more support and direction to the development of teachers.

Training courses on the teachers' professional development are expected to be developed through project activities, then they will be implemented and disseminated to all over the country. The phases of the Project include:

Phase I, critical aspects of professional development of the rural middle and elementary school teachers will be identified through survey and data collection;

Phase II, based on the findings of the survey, training courses will be developed, which focus on one or several critical aspects;

Phase III, project sites will be identified and training courses will be conducted on a pilot basis to test the effectiveness of it, evaluation and summary up report will be prepared accordingly.

Phase IV, in case the training courses can prove to be effective, it will be disseminated and replicated to cross the country.

Project beneficiaries and areas

1. rural teachers are the key beneficiaries, the teachers working in Migrant Workers' Children Schools can get involved in as well;

2. Project activities concentrate on the professional development of the middle and elementary schools teachers:

2.1 the students will benefit from them in terms of physical and psychological health and adaptation to the society. £»

2.2 Professional development, for instance, teaching skills in the class and ability to reflect.

Project requirements

1.The project fits the development needs of the rural middle and elementary school teachers and those who working in migrant workers' children schools;

2. A series of training courses on the professional development of the middle and elementary school teachers will be developed;

3. Outputs of the Project are practical and replicable, and can be transferred;

BCF's roles

1. Provide funding during various Project Phases, the amount of it will be determined by needs, please refer to the annex for the standards of it;

2. Identify project sites in various project phases;

3. Follow up the Project implementation and evaluation to test the effectiveness and replication of it;

4. Responsible for the organization and management of such project across the country;

Project application and partnership process

1. Two parties discuss the direction and the intent of co-operation;

2. Project executive agencies prepare project proposals and fill application forms, submit them to BCF;

3. BCF reviews the proposals and provides feedbacks. Once it is approved, it will enter the funding phase.
